I’m in love with Annabel Candy and Chris Guillebeau

I cannot hide my feelings any longer; I’m in love with two bloggers, one male and one female. Okay, so perhaps “in love” is a little too strong, but I feel connected, to these two people because of their passion for what they do, their authenticity, and the fact that I get goosebumps when I read their posts, and listen to their words on various podcasts.

So who are these two bloggers:

  1. Chris Guillebeau: The Art on Non-Conformity
  2. Annabel Candy: GetintheHotSpot
 Why do I like Chris?

First of all, he’s real, he’s humble, he connects with people old and young, he’s open-minded, his motto: “live your life the way you want and help other people at the same time,” resonates with me. He’s a world traveler, he’s lived four years in Africa helping people, he’s young and energetic, and he asks the questions all of us are interested in, but rarely take the time to answer:

1) What do you really want to get out of Life?
2). What can you offer the world that no one else can?

As Chris says, “These questions are deceptively simple. It takes some people 10 minutes to get their own answers, and other people take years to figure out.”

In his book, The Art of Non-Conformity, Chris offers a ton of fascinating, yet simple ways of thinking about motivation and your life. One is his radical goal-setting, (pages 32-35,) where he gives help on setting One-Year, Five-Year, and Lifetime goals. For those of you who may be asking, “”Who am I to Tell You All This?” Chris says, “Let’s be clear about something: I adhere to a guru-free philosophy, and I don’t claim to have all the answers.”

Why do I like Annabel?
I can relate to Annabel as a woman who has lived in Africa, the UK, Costa Rica for Annabel, Belize for me, and has three children. Despite similarities in travel, Annabel is also authentic and has a strong desire to help people live their dreams. She writes about empowerment, blogging, Internet marketing, and entrepreneurship.
I recommend Annabel’s podcast where she talks about helping bloggers, especially small business owners, and writers, photographers and musicians who wish to improve their blogs. A few helpful tips she offers are:

  • Each line should have 80 characters or less, or it’s too difficult to read.
  • Stick with blogging for at least a year. You will start seeing the benefits.

Annabel always offers great content on her posts, and has a new e-book on Successful Blogging in 12 simple steps to help you become a successful blogger.

I am volunteering at Chris Guillebeau’s book tour on December 10th in Los Angeles. Can’t wait to meet him and everyone else attending. Hope to see you there.

Here is your chance to share the names and links of up to two bloggers who inspire you, make you feel connected, or simply entertain you and you cannot wait for their next post.

    Since I enjoy reading, I am drawn to other readers and their book reviews. I have recently become interested in poetry, therefore, I have a few blogs I follow of poets. To name two would be impossible, I love them all.

    You will find if you visit my Quotes and Things blog, it has a new format. Since I am loving poetry in my golden years, I no longer post other peoples quotes and things. On November 6, 2010, I started to post only poetry, and quotes of my own, a little shadow of my mind.

    @Gigi Ann
    I do love your new blog and your poems, especially the romantic poem about your husband and the sunset.

    @alwayswellwithin.com
    We both have good taste. Loved your post on how to focus. I really need to work on that aspect.

    @noexcuses
    I think you'll find Annabel and Chris fascinating people.

    @Deb
    I feel like going. Wish I had a friend in Portland that needed a visit at the same time. I shall wait until I meet Chris and get to hear more about the conference.

    @Annabel
    What time is it in Australia? Do you ever sleep? I shall find out. Thanks so much for your comment. I shall check on Penelope Trunk.

    I am looking forward to seeing more of what both of them have to say. I am especially intrigued by what you have said about Chris. Coming from you, it is for sure that the recommendations are good ones.

    @Jeanie
    Thanks Jeanie. I think you'll find Chris inspiring. I love his book and it's not often that I come across something that is simple, and makes total sense.

    @Rob-Bear,
    I think when you follow Annabel for a while and read her posts and listen to her, you get a true sense of who she is, and that she's down-to-earth and very helpful. As with everything, developing a relationship with someone you trust, takes a while.
    The same applies to Chris.

    @Mommemau2
    Thanks for your comment and I'm glad you're going over to visit Chris.

    @Chris
    Thanks for the love back. Can you sing? Another way to get even more fans. Look forward to your book tour in LA.

    It's so hard to just pick two. Annabel and Abby at abbykerrink.com are probley my top two. I learned from Abby how to start my blog and found Annabel through her. What I have learned from both of them has kept me blogging. I have read some of Chris' blog, will have to take another look.

    Thanks Lynn. I think it shows trust as well.

    @Annette
    Thanks for letting me know about Abby. I have not checked her blog yet. Isn't it wonderful to have someone motivate you.

    @Matty
    Welcome on board. Glad you enjoy reading their posts.

    @Annabel Candy
    A revisit. Wow! Rob-bear lives in Canada, and he has told me he's getting ready to hibernate.

  18. Robert the Skeptic says

    November 16, 2010 at 6:23 pm

    Interesting, I will add the two sites to my rapidly growing list of blogs I am trying to keep up following.

    I have several favorite and quite excellent blogs I follow but two stand out as extremely well done and professional.

    Murmurrs is authored by Murr Brewster, a fellow Oregonian and tremendiously skilled and remarkably humorous writer. Her creatively satirical take and turn-of-phrase on a number of everyday subjects is wildly amusing. I'm surprised she isn't a staff writer for National Lampoon.

    The Mother's Handbook is written by a mom and physician in the great state of Texas. Her posts focus on medical history and it's stumbling evolution between science and silliness over the ages. Another Skeptic like me, the lady deftly wields a scalpel excising myth, mysticism and bogus thought.

    @Annabel Candy
    Thanks for the links.
    I already follow Sandra Lee. I wanted to make sure I have the right Penelope Trunk: http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/
    Thanks Annabel.

    @Robert the Skeptic,
    I left a comment on Murmurrs. I can see why you like these two bloggers. Controversial, edgy and open like you. Thanks for the links.

    I don't know Chris but Annabel is a gem! I'm lucky enough to have met her "in the flesh" and she's exactly as she appears in her blog. Fun, friendly, authentic and smart.

    I understand why you're in love with her but I think you'll need to join the queue!
