Laughter: We Need More.

Do you remember the last time you laughed so hard, you cried?

Last night, warm tears meandered down my cheeks like lava trails. So what if my mascara messed up, I hadn’t laughed so hard since childhood. It was the kind of laughter you can’t control, it just takes over, and you can’t stop.

Jordan, my youngest son and I, have the same sense of humor. It seems strange that my 15-year-old son can make me laugh more than my husband. Sometimes I feel guilty about it, but he imitates my laughter to perfection–snort included–and I become a kid again. One giggle leads to another and quickly spins out of control.

If you don’t laugh, this Panda will make you smile.

We imitate others and so the following quote from Science Daily makes sense: “It seems that it’s absolutely true that ‘laugh and the whole world laughs with you’,” says Dr Sophie Scott, a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, UCL. “We’ve known for some time now that when we are talking to someone, we often mirror their behaviour, copying the words they use and mimicking their gestures. Now we’ve shown that the same appears to apply to laughter, too — at least at the level of the brain.”

So when was the last time you laughed? I mean really laughed?

Do you use humor in your daily life?

Are you good at telling jokes?

    Laughter is great stress relief, and I had a lot of it over the weekend. Good post and great video!

    That was a funny video, I love the unexpected. We laugh all the time, thats why its nice to have pets, they are always being curious and doing little things that make us laugh!

    Great post! And I did laugh at that sneezing panda.

    My latest post has a video that will probably have you laughing hard too.. it's wacky, charming and a little innocent. Amazing what you can do with two large crispbreads!

    I try to use humour every day – gosh knows my kids and I laugh a lot!

    While i may not remember my last bent over double, sides aching laugh; i can at least say that i'm pretty sure i laugh almost every day. Even on the darkest days there is always something there to remind me to smile. 🙂

    Without laughter, humour and the ability to take tradgedy and laugh about it I would be a very sad weasel.

    I am not big on jokes. I am very bad at telling them. But, I do my very best to add humour to my life and the lives of others.

    I love to laugh, but then I don't know who doesn't. Since I spend a lot of solo time in my office, writing, I have lately become laughter deprived! I do use humor in my writing and also love to read humorous books, so that helps. But nothing replaces the run-away, laughing-till-you cry fun that happens when you spend time with family and friends.

    I'd better go find me some!

    Funny you should say it's your son that makes you laugh so hard tears stream down your face, cause it's my grown children that make me laugh that way too. My little grandson Ben is two and he's giving them a run for their money, I can tell you that.

    Keep laughing, it is the best medicine!

    Laughter is super important! I'd seen the baby panda sneeze before. It's super cute. I make people laugh alot, but mostly not when I am intending. I have odd turns of phrases that I intend to be serious, but others think are intending to be funny 🙂

    Sometimes when my girls were still living at home, we would start to giggle about something that wasn´t even really funny, but it´s like you wrote, one person "infects" the other and you end up laughing til your tears are coming. I miss that so much, but have the blessing of having friends who sometimes make me laugh like that.
    Laughter is the best medicine for anything!

    The panda made me smile! When was the laughter time I laughed hard? Quite some time now, but I'm working on it! 🙂

    I agree with Warren that laughter is a great stress relief.

    I don't laugh much these days.

    G3 doesn't get my jokes, so I don't joke that much (except when I'm posting or commenting).

    Telling jokes? I don't know. I tell stories, some of which are funny. Does that count?

    President Bush decided to get the U.S. involved in a major middle-eastern war. Now America is caught between Iraq and a hard place. 😉

    See what I mean?

    I laugh a lot – to myself!
    A very good laugh feels almost like pain, stomach gets really good exercise!

    I think women who are naturally funny have to figure out how to do that and still retain their feminity. I know that might be a controversial statement, but I think it would take me a long time to explain it. I would like to share my favorite laugh generating video! Enjoy!

    This makes me think of a lot of my visit here with family!
    YEs, I laugh almost every day…though the really hard, crying laughter is not every day. But it does happen a lot!
    My son, all of 10 years old, can imitate my laugh fairly easily, and it gets me giggling to no end. Which in turn makes him giggle, and he inevitably, ever since he was a baby, gets the hiccups! Way too cute!

    I love to laugh, but my joke telling is something not so great…unless you want to laugh at how bad I tell it!

    I laughed my guts out the other night when I saw an infomercial for volume extenders for the hair called bumpits. I'm sorry – if that doesn't make you laugh/cry then I don't know what would. It felt great to laugh that hard.

    @Warren
    True. We can relieve stress through laughter.

    @Brenda
    My rat terrier makes us laugh too, even though she's 11.

    @LadyFi
    Loved your video with the Swedish "naked" men.

    @CairoTyp0
    Do you laugh a lot with your husband?

    @La Belette Rouge
    I wish women would tell more jokes, me included.

    @Miss Footloose
    I do enjoy the humor in your writing. I find it so easy to read and laugh at your stories.

    @Elizabeth
    Yes, I agree. I never expected my son to make me laugh more than my husband. nice surprise.

    @Lauren
    Does your writing incorporate those odd turns of phrases?

    @Betty
    I like your use of word infects. It's true, girls and women can easily start a giggling spurt. Even at 51, in Denmark with my best friend, we still do.

    @Vodka Mom
    Yes, we all love laughter. Wish we did it even more, like mu blogging.

    @Crimogenic,
    Writing alone isn't conducive to laughter. At least that's what I find.

    @Rob-bear
    I did like your joke and laughed. I find my husband is much funnier and tells great jokes when we have a party.

    @BLOGitse
    That's a great way to define laughter. A pain and exercise to the stomach.

    @Veronica Lee
    Thanks for your visit and compliment.

    Thanks for the FUNNY video. I laughed so hard at the middle guys laughter.

    @Ballerina Girl
    I love those giggles and the hiccups add to it.

    @Lyn
    Never heard of that commercial. The name is enough to laugh though.
