Last week, I received an e-mail from the PR team that supports GM’s Western Region asking me if I would be willing to contribute some tips to their blog.
Of course I accepted, and here’s the post: The Cheat Sheet: Moving Your Kid to College. I wrote from the perspective of a mother with three sons. Dave Barthmuss, the Group Manager for GM’s Western Region, wrote tips about taking his daughter to college.
I have to share an amazing coincidence. A few minutes before I found the GM e-mail in my inbox, I had just read my article from 2009, published in the OC Register blog about taking my son to college for the first time. We loaded a 7′ surf-board and a bike in my husband’s bright yellow Chevy Aveo, a GM car. (photo above)
I want to thank Suzanne Broughton who writes for OC Family and also founded the OC Blog Crush, the largest regional blogging organization, for referring GM to me.
Please jump over to read our tips on: The Cheat Sheet: Moving Your Kid to College, and comment on GM’s blog. That would make me so happy. Thanks Suzanne, Sara, Dave and everyone else at GM and OC Family blogs.

Norwich man with van says
The most cost effective way to move items from A-B is to call the services of your local man with a van this can in most cases save you lots of money as they tend to be a fraction of the cost of major removal and courier companies you should enure the service provider you choose to use are correctly insured ask for proof if they are legitimate they wont mind showing you proof of insurances! try a man and van service with sign written vans these are more credible and likely to have all the insurance than a plain white van in my opinion after all you wouldnt want someone heading off into the sunset with your new furniture and belongings.

Having a good quality car really helps when loading up to see your child off to college. My daughter just recently graduated from 4 years and when we loaded her stuff to help her move in, we had a beat up old car that barely made the 7 hour drive.
Now she has moved to Italy for an internship and while I could not drive her to settle into her new place, I am sure she has managed to find a nifty means of transportation over that way.
We are looking for a new car now, so maybe I will have to give this one a look into and see what it is like for it looks like the perfect little car to fit my needs( think I may try another color though, since I have always been partial to red or teal cars)Thanks for the tip.

Hi Deb,
Thanks for your comment. I hope your daughter enjoys Italy. I’ve always liked small cars, especially when I drive alone most of the time. I like red too. Watch out for tickets with a red car though.
