Loved the post – very inspiring!
I really ought to do weight-lifting as my body is not defined at all! But I just don’t have the time… I do walk for about 1.5 hours every day with the dog – and to and from school in all kinds of weather – no matter what.

I use to exercise regularly, but I have become a Lazyboy Potato of late! I make no promises…;)

Good advice. Why did you spend the first 25 years of your life in Paris? Are SoCal women in better shape than French women?

Before my recurring health problems of the winter, I was getting along in “shaping up.” Now I’m back at square one. (Winters are always bad for bears, what with hibernating and all.)
My doctor and I have worked on a plan (mostly I worked on the plan and doc OK’d it). I’m walking 15 minutes a day every second day, and doing a little yard work on alternate days. Mid-point is walking 15 minutes or more every day, and doing yard work or pumping iron daily. From there, I start terrorizing the city on my bicycle (if I can stand the traffic fumes).
Does that count? (Especially for a young guy; I’m only 63.)

I am one of those people that actually enjoys exercising. I just have a hard time sticking to a regular exercising schedule. I typically get 2 decent workouts in a week, but I’d feel better if I got 4 in.
Thanks for the motivation.
I’m drooling over your beach blog picture! Wish I were there…

Oh, wow, I need to get out more. Now that the weather is getting nicer it’s a possibility! That, and I need an exercise bike or something.

LadyFiThat’s a lot of walking. I don’t walk as much as you do. I know in Europe everyone seems to walk more which is why they stay in better shape.
GrmmaAnnAs long as you’re happy and feel good, that’s all that matters.
BrendaI spent 14 years in Paris, the rest in Nigeria and England. My Father worked in Nigeria then Paris. SoCal young women are not in better shape than French women which is weird. Perhaps French women eat better and since 80% is your diet, that may explain why.
Rob-bearAre you still walking 15 minutes/day? Hope you’re not hibernating.
Lady GlamisI know you’re a very busy lady with all your writing and blogging.
JillGlad to hear you enjoy exercising. The it shouldn’t be a problem for you.

Didn’t get to walk my 15 minutes today. I spent three hours working in the back yard this afternoon, and more time moving furniture inside the house this evening.
That might not sound like much of anything, but it is light years ahead of where I was a while ago. (That’s when I came third in the race with the tortoise and the snail.)
Gimmie a break, already! Sheesh!

Just what I needed right now.

Oh dear… Now I feel bad.
I am TEMPTED to read on but the guilt is stopping me.
I enjoy your writing SO much that I might just have to click the link… but it’s about fitness and I HATE, HATE, HATE exercise with a passion.
I don’t know why.
But I think maybe I am allergic…?
No one has ever got me even vaguely interested in it. I’m 38 and sooooooooooooo in need of a kick up the backside. But it would have to be one almighty kick. And I’m not sure I’m ready for that.
Although… I’m flipping tempted, I must admit.

Hi, thanks for your comment, I bet norwich has changed since you were studying here.
Just had a look on your blog, it’s lovely and you are very brave making the change from ‘freeways to flip flops’.

Good article. My wife and I have started talking about starting an exercise program together. Sounds like time for us to start!
